My Thoughts On The New MUFE Ultra HD Foundation

Hello, gorgeous!

Today, I’m going to share with you my thoughts on the new MUFE Ultra HD Foundation. I think about a month ago, LOOK Cosmetics (Instagram/Facebook) posted about this foundation, and I just badly wanted to try it out. I have the old MUFE HD Foundation and it was definitely my holy grail foundation until this new formulation came up.

MUFE designed the old one (MUFE HD Foundation) for television and photography purposes; to deliver to technology’s latest digital upgrades. During the time that HD cameras boomed, Make Up For Ever just had to come up with a foundation that would meet the needs of the industry that is upgrading as well and using HD camera. The MUFE HD Foundation claims to make you look like you are not wearing any foundation and just look flawless and it’s true. I loved the old one so much. It gives a medium-full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. Note that I have very oily skin, but the MUFE HD Foundation worked for me.  It usually lasts 6 hours before I retouch with some powder which is a good thing because with other foundations, I find myself always reaching out for my powder after 3 hours or so.

After the HD generation, we know that technology is bound to change. It just keeps getting better. Now they already have this 4K HD which means it is now 4 times more defined than a regular HD. Details are now much stronger and magnified. And so, Make Up For Ever just keeps their products up to date, and created the new Ultra HD Foundation to cater to the 4K demands. (The MUFE Ultra HD Foundation is a replacement to the old HD Foundation)

The Ultra HD Foundation’s point is to make you look flawless on camera and in real life with it being completely invisible and undetectable. I have been using this foundation for almost 2 weeks (non-stop) now, and I think that’s long enough for me to actually share my thoughts on it. When people ask me if there’s any difference between the old and the new formula, my answer would always be a definite yes! With the new one, I would get a lot of “Oh you’re skin is just so flawless” or “Wow, you aren’t wearing any foundation and you still look great!” as for the other one, I would still get questions like what foundation am I wearing and so on. So, I think this new Ultra HD Foundation stays true to what it claims to be — invisible and undetectable. What I like about the new formula is that it gives me a more flawless finish, it is more lightweight and more long-wearing.

Here is a photo of me without wearing any foundation:

This side of my face with the old formula (MUFE HD Foundation) before and after with just one layer:

It did give a satin and velvet-y finish but it was not enough to cover all the redness and blemishes. Then again, that’s just one layer. The foundation is very buildable so with this, I usually apply two layers. But you will be totally surprised with the new Ultra HD Foundation!

I do hope you get to see the difference as I am just using my phone’s camera. But anyway, this Ultra HD Foundation just nailed it. I usually apply just one layer of the Ultra HD Foundation and I’m good to go. This is definitely a proof that A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. I tried applying 2 layers and it just gave me the same feeling. It never felt sticky nor thick on the skin. Probably just feels like skin, too.

I just love the finish of the Ultra HD Foundation. It’s not matte, but not that dewy. Just enough sheen/glow so people who have tremendously oily like I do need not to worry about this foundation because it will work well with you. With this foundation, I just powder my T-Zone after application and then I’m all set. I don’t know what’s with this foundation, but I don’t find myself powdering within the day. It usually lasts for 9-10 hours before I get oil blots. I also think any primer will do for this foundation. I tried the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive and MUFE HD Primer, and the Ultra HD Foundation worked well with any of them.

Texture wise, the old one is a tad bit thicker than the new one so I guess that’s one of the reasons why the Ultra HD is more lightweight.

On top is the MUFE HD Foundation and on the bottom part is the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation. The Ultra HD Foundation is more runny and liquid-y as compared to the old foundation.

Another great news that the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation brings is the wide range of shades they now offer. They still kept the old ones but the changed the numbers. I used to be 128 and now I’m a Y415. Y stands for Yellow undertone. They have their Rs, too, which stands for red or pink undertones. For the old shades that they kept, they still placed the number on the bottle but with the equivalent new number shade.

Packaging wise, the only difference would be the silver sort of rim on the bottle, that’s it. Size is the same, amount of product it contains is the same and both have the pump.

The last time I checked, which was around August 20 something, Make Up For Ever (in Greenbelt) still does not have the new formula, so I’m not so sure if we already have it in stores in the Ph, but of course, there’s no need to worry. There’s one online shop you can get this bad girl from: LOOK Cosmetics. You can search the account on Instagram and the page on Facebook. And as you search for the account/page, please don’t forget to follow/like the shop. LOOK Cosmetics sells the Ultra HD Foundation for P2,300. I am telling you guys, it’s worth it. Don’t miss the chance and go get yours now!

My Favorite Highlighters!

Okay, so, if you are a very close friend or like you’ve seen my makeup collection, you’d know how much I love highlighters and I mean I loooove them! I am obsessed! I always want that J. Lo or Desi Perkins glow! I love highlighters! I just love them!

I have 6 beautiful highlighters and I can’t go a day without applying any of them. Like, I’m excited to apply my blush ’cause I know I will be applying my highlighter after. And people are like, oh my gosh, “shine bright like a diamond”. Lol!

So the first highlighter I am going to talk about is by Colourpop (okay, I will be discussing my highlighters from my least favorite to, like, my HG highlighter and can I just say that this is hard because I love each and every single one of them), it’s in the shade Highly Waisted. The texture of the Colourpop highlighters is like, rubbery, bouncy but soft and creamy. I would advice using your finger or a sponge for this. Believe me, I tried using tons of brushes for this, but meh, didn’t work. I got 5 more shades of the Colourpop highlighters and I got rid of them because, well, just because, and this is the shade that I kept. Colourpop highlighters are intense but you can start like with a small amount because this is totally buildable. I like how it looks a bit wet on the skin so it looks really luminous and natural and stuff. Highly Waisted has this champagne tone to it, like pink-ier and all. I would recommend this to people who are fair to medium skin tone. If you have deeper skintone, I’d say go for Wisp! The colourpop highlighters are longlasting, intensely pigmented and very easy to build. The only thing I don’t like about the Colourpop highlighters is the packaging. It’s a white, round container with a lid on it which I think is just too, hmm, simple? It does not look exciting at all. It’s a bit big though so you can get a lot of product. Weight wise, it’s super light so it’s good for travelling. If you’re looking for a cheap but good quality highlighter, go for the Colourpop highlighters. They cost around P500 each which is really cheap. There are tons of shades to choose from! You can go get them from Pretty Moody on Instagram!

The next one is by The Balm, it’s the Betty-Lou Manizer. It’s actually a bronzer but you can totally use it as a highlighter (medium-deep skintone) if you want that golden J. Lo glow and stuff. The texture of the Betty-Lou is soft but powdery. I don’t know if that’s even possible but yeah. The Betty-Lou Manizer is very pigmented and a little goes a long way if you are using this as a highlighter. You have to be very careful when applying this because the finish is super out there and you wouldn’t want to look like a golden disco ball or something. But yeah, I love how I can use this as a bronzer and as a highlighter. I love products that are like multi-purpose or something. This is a bit more pricey than the Colourpop ones, this costs around P950? Yeah, P950. If you want to get this visit any Beauty Bar nearest you.

Next product I’m going to discuss is not really a highlighter but more of like a setting all over powder — it’s the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I have the palette one (thank you, @radium888). I love how this product works wonders! You know how you apply foundation or bronzer or blush and you’re like, okay, makeup, but when you apply this, you’re like radiant, glowing, you look young and you look like you just came out from a fashion magazine! It doesn’t change the color of your foundation/bronzer/blush, it just gives you that radiant effect. This product is amazing! It’s finely milled and is also very buildable. What’s awesome about this product is that the shades give a different effect on your skin depending on the lighting. In this palette you have the Radiant Light which I usually use to set everything. This Radiant Light makes you look flawless! The next one in the middle is an exclusive in this palette, is the Incandescent Light. I like using this as a highlighter. When you apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, they aren’t really obvious since they just help to make you glow so you just have to build it up to make it highlight your face. This Incandescent Light is so amazing! I sometimes use it at the top of my concealer then I focus on the top of my cheeks for highlighting/strobing purposes. What’s great about this is that no matter how intensely you build it, it doesn’t look like it’s sitting on your skin. The next one is the Dim Light and this shade is my favorite. I use it all over my face or at the top of my bronzer or as a highlighter like the Betty-Lou if I want that golden sorta glow! Packaging-wise, I love how classy it looks! It’s also very convenient when travelling because it’s light. With the price, this is quite expensive. Well getting individual pans is way more expensive so I suggest that you get the palette instead. This is all over Instagram! Follow @radium888, @makeupyourmindstore and @lookcosmetics

IMG_4422 IMG_4492 IMG_4390

The next highlighter is by The Balm again, the most raved about Mary-Lou Manizer! This highlighter just gives off that intense glow! If you’re just starting to invest on highlighters or you want to start that highlighting or strobing game and you don’t have the budget yet, go for this one! This could also be a dupe for the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal! It’s the same price as the Betty-Lou, it’s P950 but some online shops sell it like a hundred bucks less. This highlighter is crazy pigmented so you have to again, be careful, but there’s not much to worry about because it’s easy to buff it out. This highlighter is just awesome!

IMG_4416 IMG_4401 IMG_4404

The next one is a limited edition and can I just say, thank you, Jaclyn Hill, for coming up with this one? I love the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Champagne Gold! Oh my gosh, this is just plain perfect! You know how a lot of people would rave about this product and when you try it, you’re like “really?”, but this one is just ah-mazing! It has like a duo-chrome tone to it, like a champagne and a rose gold. I love Becca highlighters so much (duh, they’re my top 2) because they will totally change your highlighting game. Becca highlighting pressed powders are the creamiest, the butteriest and the softest! It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and they just give you that glow you will love! They’re magic! I love how this Champagne Pop is very versatile, it will suit every skintone. It definitely has that champagne pop touch to it and like a golden and slightly pink tone. LOOK Cosmetics was kind enough to save one pan for me! Thank you, Luisa! She has stocks of this gorgeous baby and if you have the budget, go get one! Or save up for this! It’s super worth it! Go follow @lookcosmetics now!

Last but not the least, still by Becca is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Opal. THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL HIGHLIGHTER! Today, August 26, my birthday, this Becca Opal is one of the many things I am thankful for!!! I love this one so much! I feel like this highlighter was designed for me! Opal is just as versatile as Champagne Pop because I think this will suit people who are fair-light medium-medium-deep skintones. But if you are super duper fair, go for Moonstone! This Opal shade has a light touch of champagne and pink to it. It’s so smooth, it glides on the skin, looks natural and it is just oh sooo perfect! I love the packaging, too! Very sleek and sturdy!

So there, those are my favorite highlighters! I would love to hear from you, girls, as well! What is your favorite highlighter and why? I’d appreciate some thoughts and I would love to try something new, too!
Thank you so much, gorgeous!

With love and glitters,
Kat
