Too Faced Born This Way Undetectable Medium-To-Full Coverage Foundation Review

It’s been all over YouTube, Instagram and other blogs — Too Faced Born This Way Undetectable Medium-Full Coverage Foundation. I rarely join the bandwagon, but as soon as I heard that it has Coconut Water and Alpine Rose in it, I knew I had to try it out. I like makeups that contain unique ingredients like the Pixi by Petra Makeup Finishing Spray that has Rose Water and Green Tea in it (You guys should totally try that out, too! It really is a great setting spray). It’s not everyday that you come across a foundation that has special ingredients in it, right?

The Too Faced Born This Way foundation is infused with Coconut Water “to delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels”, Alpine Rose “to brighten skin’s appearance and promote elasticity” and Hyaluronic Acid “for a smoother, more youthful appearance”.

This foundation claims to be an oil-free foundation that masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin. The coverage is so undetectable and skin so naturally radiant they’ll think you were BORN THIS WAY. This also claims to give you that “I woke up like this” look.

I’ve been using this foundation for a month and a half now. I literally used it non-stop for a week and I didn’t have any breakout or whatsoever. I am in love with this foundation. I know, I know, I’m always in love with the stuff that I review, but this foundation just swept me off my feet. I love it so much that I was able to use it everyday for a week and I reach out for this foundation on special occasions or night-outs that I haven’t even touched my MUFE Ultra HD that long!

If you follow me on Instagram, Snapchat or we’re friends on Facebook, you already know that I have oily skin. I’d say one of the challenges people with oil skin encounter is finding a good primer and foundation. This foundation nailed it. So if you have oily skin, this foundation should be great for you, too.

The Too Faced Born This Way foundation is very pigmented which I really like. I sometimes find myself not reaching out for concealer whenever I use this foundation because it just covers all the dark circles, blemishes and whatever imperfections I have.

Here is a photo of my skin with and without the foundation:

IMG_5518 IMG_5611

and that’s just one pump. Yes, with this foundation, a little does go a long way. Btw, for this foundation, I’m in the shade Sand which is a Medium/Tan with Neutral to Golden Undertones. For reference, I’m an NC42.

As for the finish, even though I have oily skin, I still like a little glow on my face and this foundation does a great job. It has a velvety matte finish so wether you have dry or oily skin, this foundation can do the trick.  I love how natural and light it feels on the skin for the amount of coverage you get.

The longevity of this foundation I’d say would be at least 5 hours before you see some oils coming out, but not really a big deal. Just powder the oily parts and you’re good to go. I have used this foundation for 3 night-outs, around 7pm, powdered my face once and my face is still at its best at 4:30am and that is a long time.

Other than the pigmentation, longevity and the foundation’s finish, I am obsessed with its packaging, too.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset
The frosted glass, gold rim with that embossed “Too Faced” is just so classy!

If I could just cut the chase, I’d say, yes this is a great foundation, go get it.

Sooo, as for the claims, does it replenish the skin? Yes. Does it give a naturally radiant finish? Yes. Is it really undetectable? If you blend it well, yes.

I love using my Beauty Blender with this foundation because I find the finish more natural with it. But if you want a bam! Full coverage! right away, a flat top kabuki brush is the tool to use.

IMG_5522

Oh, and you can see there the texture of the foundation, its a bit thick, but watery. If that makes any sense.

Overall, I’d give this foundation 5 stars and would suggest that you all give this one a try, too.

You can get this foundation at just P2,150 from @nicolettemakup, make sure to check them out! Also, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram: @katchavez 🙂

My YouTube channel will be up in less than 2 mos. I hope you’re all as excited as I am.

With love and glitters,

My Thoughts On The New MUFE Ultra HD Foundation

Hello, gorgeous!

Today, I’m going to share with you my thoughts on the new MUFE Ultra HD Foundation. I think about a month ago, LOOK Cosmetics (Instagram/Facebook) posted about this foundation, and I just badly wanted to try it out. I have the old MUFE HD Foundation and it was definitely my holy grail foundation until this new formulation came up.

MUFE designed the old one (MUFE HD Foundation) for television and photography purposes; to deliver to technology’s latest digital upgrades. During the time that HD cameras boomed, Make Up For Ever just had to come up with a foundation that would meet the needs of the industry that is upgrading as well and using HD camera. The MUFE HD Foundation claims to make you look like you are not wearing any foundation and just look flawless and it’s true. I loved the old one so much. It gives a medium-full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. Note that I have very oily skin, but the MUFE HD Foundation worked for me.  It usually lasts 6 hours before I retouch with some powder which is a good thing because with other foundations, I find myself always reaching out for my powder after 3 hours or so.

After the HD generation, we know that technology is bound to change. It just keeps getting better. Now they already have this 4K HD which means it is now 4 times more defined than a regular HD. Details are now much stronger and magnified. And so, Make Up For Ever just keeps their products up to date, and created the new Ultra HD Foundation to cater to the 4K demands. (The MUFE Ultra HD Foundation is a replacement to the old HD Foundation)

The Ultra HD Foundation’s point is to make you look flawless on camera and in real life with it being completely invisible and undetectable. I have been using this foundation for almost 2 weeks (non-stop) now, and I think that’s long enough for me to actually share my thoughts on it. When people ask me if there’s any difference between the old and the new formula, my answer would always be a definite yes! With the new one, I would get a lot of “Oh you’re skin is just so flawless” or “Wow, you aren’t wearing any foundation and you still look great!” as for the other one, I would still get questions like what foundation am I wearing and so on. So, I think this new Ultra HD Foundation stays true to what it claims to be — invisible and undetectable. What I like about the new formula is that it gives me a more flawless finish, it is more lightweight and more long-wearing.

Here is a photo of me without wearing any foundation:

IMG_4652

This side of my face with the old formula (MUFE HD Foundation) before and after with just one layer:

IMG_4661 IMG_4704

It did give a satin and velvet-y finish but it was not enough to cover all the redness and blemishes. Then again, that’s just one layer. The foundation is very buildable so with this, I usually apply two layers. But you will be totally surprised with the new Ultra HD Foundation!

This side of my face with the new formula (MUFE Ultra HD Foundation) before and after with just one layer:

IMG_4658 IMG_4703

I do hope you get to see the difference as I am just using my phone’s camera. But anyway, this Ultra HD Foundation just nailed it. I usually apply just one layer of the Ultra HD Foundation and I’m good to go. This is definitely a proof that A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. I tried applying 2 layers and it just gave me the same feeling. It never felt sticky nor thick on the skin. Probably just feels like skin, too.

I just love the finish of the Ultra HD Foundation. It’s not matte, but not that dewy. Just enough sheen/glow so people who have tremendously oily like I do need not to worry about this foundation because it will work well with you. With this foundation, I just powder my T-Zone after application and then I’m all set. I don’t know what’s with this foundation, but I don’t find myself powdering within the day. It usually lasts for 9-10 hours before I get oil blots. I also think any primer will do for this foundation. I tried the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive and MUFE HD Primer, and the Ultra HD Foundation worked well with any of them.

Texture wise, the old one is a tad bit thicker than the new one so I guess that’s one of the reasons why the Ultra HD is more lightweight.

IMG_4671

On top is the MUFE HD Foundation and on the bottom part is the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation. The Ultra HD Foundation is more runny and liquid-y as compared to the old foundation.

Another great news that the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation brings is the wide range of shades they now offer. They still kept the old ones but the changed the numbers. I used to be 128 and now I’m a Y415. Y stands for Yellow undertone. They have their Rs, too, which stands for red or pink undertones. For the old shades that they kept, they still placed the number on the bottle but with the equivalent new number shade.

IMG_4669

Packaging wise, the only difference would be the silver sort of rim on the bottle, that’s it. Size is the same, amount of product it contains is the same and both have the pump.

IMG_4664 IMG_4670

The last time I checked, which was around August 20 something, Make Up For Ever (in Greenbelt) still does not have the new formula, so I’m not so sure if we already have it in stores in the Ph, but of course, there’s no need to worry. There’s one online shop you can get this bad girl from: LOOK Cosmetics. You can search the account on Instagram and the page on Facebook. And as you search for the account/page, please don’t forget to follow/like the shop. LOOK Cosmetics sells the Ultra HD Foundation for P2,300. I am telling you guys, it’s worth it. Don’t miss the chance and go get yours now!

This is my holy grail foundation. What’s yours? 🙂

My Favorite Highlighters!

Okay, so, if you are a very close friend or like you’ve seen my makeup collection, you’d know how much I love highlighters and I mean I loooove them! I am obsessed! I always want that J. Lo or Desi Perkins glow! I love highlighters! I just love them!

I have 6 beautiful highlighters and I can’t go a day without applying any of them. Like, I’m excited to apply my blush ’cause I know I will be applying my highlighter after. And people are like, oh my gosh, “shine bright like a diamond”. Lol!

So the first highlighter I am going to talk about is by Colourpop (okay, I will be discussing my highlighters from my least favorite to, like, my HG highlighter and can I just say that this is hard because I love each and every single one of them), it’s in the shade Highly Waisted. The texture of the Colourpop highlighters is like, rubbery, bouncy but soft and creamy. I would advice using your finger or a sponge for this. Believe me, I tried using tons of brushes for this, but meh, didn’t work. I got 5 more shades of the Colourpop highlighters and I got rid of them because, well, just because, and this is the shade that I kept. Colourpop highlighters are intense but you can start like with a small amount because this is totally buildable. I like how it looks a bit wet on the skin so it looks really luminous and natural and stuff. Highly Waisted has this champagne tone to it, like pink-ier and all. I would recommend this to people who are fair to medium skin tone. If you have deeper skintone, I’d say go for Wisp! The colourpop highlighters are longlasting, intensely pigmented and very easy to build. The only thing I don’t like about the Colourpop highlighters is the packaging. It’s a white, round container with a lid on it which I think is just too, hmm, simple? It does not look exciting at all. It’s a bit big though so you can get a lot of product. Weight wise, it’s super light so it’s good for travelling. If you’re looking for a cheap but good quality highlighter, go for the Colourpop highlighters. They cost around P500 each which is really cheap. There are tons of shades to choose from! You can go get them from Pretty Moody on Instagram!

IMG_4412 IMG_4410 IMG_4409

The next one is by The Balm, it’s the Betty-Lou Manizer. It’s actually a bronzer but you can totally use it as a highlighter (medium-deep skintone) if you want that golden J. Lo glow and stuff. The texture of the Betty-Lou is soft but powdery. I don’t know if that’s even possible but yeah. The Betty-Lou Manizer is very pigmented and a little goes a long way if you are using this as a highlighter. You have to be very careful when applying this because the finish is super out there and you wouldn’t want to look like a golden disco ball or something. But yeah, I love how I can use this as a bronzer and as a highlighter. I love products that are like multi-purpose or something. This is a bit more pricey than the Colourpop ones, this costs around P950? Yeah, P950. If you want to get this visit any Beauty Bar nearest you.

 IMG_4406 IMG_4408IMG_4414

Next product I’m going to discuss is not really a highlighter but more of like a setting all over powder — it’s the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I have the palette one (thank you, @radium888). I love how this product works wonders! You know how you apply foundation or bronzer or blush and you’re like, okay, makeup, but when you apply this, you’re like radiant, glowing, you look young and you look like you just came out from a fashion magazine! It doesn’t change the color of your foundation/bronzer/blush, it just gives you that radiant effect. This product is amazing! It’s finely milled and is also very buildable. What’s awesome about this product is that the shades give a different effect on your skin depending on the lighting. In this palette you have the Radiant Light which I usually use to set everything. This Radiant Light makes you look flawless! The next one in the middle is an exclusive in this palette, is the Incandescent Light. I like using this as a highlighter. When you apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, they aren’t really obvious since they just help to make you glow so you just have to build it up to make it highlight your face. This Incandescent Light is so amazing! I sometimes use it at the top of my concealer then I focus on the top of my cheeks for highlighting/strobing purposes. What’s great about this is that no matter how intensely you build it, it doesn’t look like it’s sitting on your skin. The next one is the Dim Light and this shade is my favorite. I use it all over my face or at the top of my bronzer or as a highlighter like the Betty-Lou if I want that golden sorta glow! Packaging-wise, I love how classy it looks! It’s also very convenient when travelling because it’s light. With the price, this is quite expensive. Well getting individual pans is way more expensive so I suggest that you get the palette instead. This is all over Instagram! Follow @radium888, @makeupyourmindstore and @lookcosmetics

IMG_4422 IMG_4492 IMG_4390

The next highlighter is by The Balm again, the most raved about Mary-Lou Manizer! This highlighter just gives off that intense glow! If you’re just starting to invest on highlighters or you want to start that highlighting or strobing game and you don’t have the budget yet, go for this one! This could also be a dupe for the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal! It’s the same price as the Betty-Lou, it’s P950 but some online shops sell it like a hundred bucks less. This highlighter is crazy pigmented so you have to again, be careful, but there’s not much to worry about because it’s easy to buff it out. This highlighter is just awesome!

IMG_4416 IMG_4401 IMG_4404

The next one is a limited edition and can I just say, thank you, Jaclyn Hill, for coming up with this one? I love the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Champagne Gold! Oh my gosh, this is just plain perfect! You know how a lot of people would rave about this product and when you try it, you’re like “really?”, but this one is just ah-mazing! It has like a duo-chrome tone to it, like a champagne and a rose gold. I love Becca highlighters so much (duh, they’re my top 2) because they will totally change your highlighting game. Becca highlighting pressed powders are the creamiest, the butteriest and the softest! It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and they just give you that glow you will love! They’re magic! I love how this Champagne Pop is very versatile, it will suit every skintone. It definitely has that champagne pop touch to it and like a golden and slightly pink tone. LOOK Cosmetics was kind enough to save one pan for me! Thank you, Luisa! She has stocks of this gorgeous baby and if you have the budget, go get one! Or save up for this! It’s super worth it! Go follow @lookcosmetics now!

IMG_4418 IMG_4398 IMG_4400

Last but not the least, still by Becca is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Opal. THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL HIGHLIGHTER! Today, August 26, my birthday, this Becca Opal is one of the many things I am thankful for!!! I love this one so much! I feel like this highlighter was designed for me! Opal is just as versatile as Champagne Pop because I think this will suit people who are fair-light medium-medium-deep skintones. But if you are super duper fair, go for Moonstone! This Opal shade has a light touch of champagne and pink to it. It’s so smooth, it glides on the skin, looks natural and it is just oh sooo perfect! I love the packaging, too! Very sleek and sturdy!

IMG_4392 IMG_4394 IMG_4420

So there, those are my favorite highlighters! I would love to hear from you, girls, as well! What is your favorite highlighter and why? I’d appreciate some thoughts and I would love to try something new, too!
Thank you so much, gorgeous!

With love and glitters,
Kat

Contour Kit BOTB: Anastasia Beverly Hills vs. Lorac

Hello, gorgeous!

Okay, there are so many contour kits out in the market now. If I’m not mistaken, Anastasia Beverly Hills was actually the first line who came up with a contour kit. Anyway, I got the ABH contour kit months ago and I must say, I loved it as much as I loved contouring. I can’t go a day without contouring! I was satisfied with my ABH Contour Kit so when other makeup lines like KVD and Too Faced released their own contour kit, I wasn’t really into buying a new one. But just last June 2015, when I found out about Lorac’s contour kit, I just knew I had to get it!

Fact: I am in love with Lorac’s eyeshadow palettes. I love how buttery the shadows are! Best pigmentation and best formulation, I swear!

Moving on, both have 3 contour and 3 highlight shades:

IMG_3988

These are the swatches for the highlight shades:

IMG_3985

and for the contour shades:

IMG_3987

With the swatches alone, you will already see the difference. The Lorac contour shades tend to lean on the grayish undertone more (which I think is best for contouring). As for the highlight shades, the Lorac shades are more pigmented. The Yellow shade of Lorac works just like Ben Nye’s Banana Powder.

I find myself just dipping my brush twice on the Lorac highlight shades (I sometimes use just the Yellow shade but most of the time, I like combining Beige and Yellow) unlike with ABH’s Banana shade, (maybe it’s just me) it’s hard to actually pick up some product. I dip my brush more than 5x to get the coverage that I want.

But as for the contour shades of both kits, same pigmentation but I think the Lorac is easier to blend.

Okay, so you already have an idea which brand wins in this blog post. 😛 Don’t get me wrong though. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills! Let me tell you what I like about ABH’s contour kit which I think is a win for the brand. Anastasia Beverly Hills sells refills! So, like, if you ran out of the Havana shade, or whatever shade, you wouldn’t want to buy the whole kit again, right? ‘Cause that’s just a total waste of money. So, good job, ABH! Plus, you get to customize your kit, too! So, if you aren’t a make-up artist and you just need the shades that will suit your skin tone, then ABH would be a great deal for you!

IMG_3990

As for the Lorac Contour Kit, it comes with a brush and a booklet on how to contour and highlight based on your face shape! When you buy Lorac’s eyeshadow palettes, you get like a mini eyeshadow primer and what I liked about Lorac’s contour kit is that it came with a regular-sized brush! And can I just say that the brush isn’t just like a low-quality brush, it’s a great brush! So, for just $45 or almost P2,160, you get a contour kit, a booklet and a brush!

IMG_3989

*The Anastasia Beverly Hills retails for $40 or almost P1,920.

I enjoy using the Lorac Contour Kit more than the ABH’s. Not that ABH’s contour kit isn’t a good one. I just think that Lorac is more user-friendly plus the pigmentation and stuff are amazing. Lorac once again nailed it! 😉

I tried using both contour kit and here’s a photo for your reference (I used Lorac’s contour brush for both kits):

What’s your favorite contour kit?

City Color Be Matte Blush (Product Review)

Hello, gorgeous!

So, I got a medium-sized package containing a bunch of City Color Be Matte Blushes. You could just imagine the sparkle in my eyes when I got them. These blushes are just ah-mazing! I got several Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blushes, too (Blissful, Natural Beauty, Tipsy, Exposed, Dollface and Blushing Bride), but these City Color blushes are just too pretty. Plus, I love matte blushes! Move over, Tarte!

Okay, kidding. I love Tarte, but if I could find something that is cheaper but better, why not! I’m all for being practical. What made me like these blushes more (compared to Tarte) is that I’m getting more of the product. You see, Tarte has 0.20 oz. while the City Color has 0.314 oz. Pretty large difference, eh?

Other than the big amount of product you get, the City Color Be Matte Blushes are very affordable! Kikay Bliss sells it for just P250.00 and Makeupholics is on sale now so you can get it for the same price.

So these are the blushes I received! From L-R: Toasted Coconut, Blood Orange, Fresh Melon, Guava and Blackberry.

11713490_10205756127536916_1049830700_n

These are the swatches:

11720720_10205756127496915_2092759862_n

Really great color pay-off! The blushes are crazily pigmented so you definitely need a light hand with these.

Toasted Coconut is a nice warm brown which you can use for light contouring or, like, to warm up the face.

Blood Orange is extremely vibrant so be careful. Do not apply too much. Just a few dip on the pan and you’re good to go.

Fresh Melon is a beautiful peachy pink/pink coral. My 2nd favorite! Perfect for that radiant and healthy look.

Guava is more on the peachy side, like, it’s a deep warm peachy color. This is my fave!

Blackberry is warmy mauve-pink color. I think it’s a stunning color.

They only “con” is that the blushes can get a bit powdery but that’s just a minor problem. Just tap off the excess.

Overall, I think the City Color Be Matte Blushes are definitely a great deal. Again, huge amount of product for a very affordable price, long wearing (and I mean long, like, for a good of 8 hours without retouching), MATTE, blends easily, buildable, texture is like creamy/buttery smooth, sturdy packaging (I love that it has a transparent cover so it’s easier to pick shades and stuff), cruelty free and now, paraben free!

There 8 shades to choose from: The 5 I’ve mentioned and 3 more which are: Dragonfruit, Pink Grapefruit and Papaya (oh how I badly want to get my hands on this shade, unfortunately, Makeupholics and Kikay Bliss ran out of the Papaya).

Hurry, follow Makeupholics (IG: @makeupholics) and Kikay Bliss (IG: @kikay_bliss) and go get yourself these beautiful blushes!

P.S. Thank you so much, Makeupholics (City Color Be Matte Blush in Guava) and Kikay Bliss for the other 4 blushes.

With love and glitters, Kat xx

My Top 6 Online Shops (Make-Up)

Okay, so I’ve been getting a lot of questions like what make-up do you use for eyebrows, or what contour kit is better, and above all those, where do you buy them? I also get questions like why do you buy from them, are they legit, which one is better, etc Yes, yes, I hear you all. Sorry it took me so long to make this blog/online shop review, but, better late than never, right? 😉

Here you go, my TOP picks for online shopping.

You already read my review about this shop and you already know why I love them — Designer Depot by PC. Just refer to my blog here: https://katrinachavez.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/online-shop-alert/

Then I have — MUPstore. I swear this store offers tons of make-up brands. So, what do I like about them? Their site is very user-friendly and it’s just so easy to shop from there. Major plus points for very accommodating sellers. They also have a physical store in Makati (near WalterMart) and one in QC. I haven’t been to the QC branch, though. But if you’re planning to visit their store, I am warning you, bring tons of cash, ’cause if you don’t, you might end up experiencing some major heart attack. 😉 Visit their site: http://mupstore.com/ and follow them on Instagram: @mupstore

Screen Shot 2015-05-19 at 11.32.29 PM

Next would be — Pretty Moody. No worries, the seller behind this shop isn’t even close to being moody. 😉 She’s very accommodating and tries to get back to you as soon as she can. You don’t even have to wait that long for your package to arrive. You pay and she ships right away. If there’s one thing that made me really like this shop is that she does not overprice, not even a bit! And who wouldn’t love that? You could check the prices of make-ups on their sites (ABH, Lorac, NARS, MAC, etc.), convert to peso and compare to Pretty Moody’s offer, you’ll see. Follow them on Instagram: @prettymoody

10372763_1549923801898335_7321442053977326496_n

You’ve heard about this shop in my Lorac Pro palettes review — EJC Page. A lot has been questioning if their stuff are authentic, where do they get them and so on and so forth. EJC Page is just new in the business, so I guess that explains the questions. I have been a loyal customer for the past months, and yes, you got some legit stuff right here. EJC Page is very accommodating (which I already mentioned in my Lorac review) and what’s great about them is that they ship your item even at, say, around 5pm? Just so you could get your package the next day. They send you the tracking number right away and you will just be sleeping with a smile on your face because you know something great is bound to happen the next day. 😉 Add them on Facebook: EJC Page and follow them on Instagram: @ejcpage

They don’t have a logo yet, but here is a beautiful photo of the person behind the shop:

11151067_1449984471979194_8690728584276701511_n

Now, isn’t that face gorg? 😉

Moving on, I have Royal Vanity on my list! Just like Pretty Moody, they don’t overprice! They’re open for layaways, they offer price grabs and flash deals! Who wouldn’t want to shop from them? The owner is super accommodating, too! Royal Vanity offers everything that you hear from those YouTube tutorials. So, if you are fond of watching tutorials and you’re wondering where to get those goodies, and you want to know more about the price grab thing and flash deals, add them on Facebook: Royal Vanity and add them on Instagram: @royalvanityph

1625457_404849892983980_202414508_n

Last and definitely not the least, my ultimate favorite — Beautyholic Manila. They offer a wide variety of brands and it’s crazy! The factors I considered why I was able to finally tell myself that yeah, this is my top shop: Again, reasonable prices, very fast transaction and above all, the very reason why I love Beautyholic is how she deals with customers. I swear you could bombard her with questions and she gets back to each question without making you feel like you are such a pain in the ass. Lol! No, but seriously, I ask her like tons of questions and even ask her to take a photo of my orders, and she’s just always glad to be of service. You can see that in each shop review above, I always mention the word “accommodating”, and I think Beautyholic is the winner! As a customer, of course it’s important to me that my questions are answered. 😉 Add them on Facebook: Beautyholic Manila and follow them on Instagram: @beautyholic_manila

Happy shopping, girls! 😉
